Not technically Buchla, but i have a Wiard Boogie filter with one of those barrel vactrols (i'm not sure if it's the exact same brand as yours). It's a cross between the 292 lpg & Moog ladder vcf. I've seen that type of vactrol at 3x the price of the Elmir-Perkins, though i'm not sure what makes one better than the other. I wonder if the barrel is hollow, creating a miniature 'open room' with acoustics, in which the LED & photo-resistor talk?
